Olive or Fig is an online mentoring platform for neurodivergent people. We are growing, and we need a fresh, creative voice to help us tell our story, on screen, authentically.
This is a real internship, with real mentoring, working alongside a registered company. You will film and edit content for our platform while living full-board in a private Scottish estate. Your work will reach the people who need it most.
We judge the story, not the equipment. A smartphone and an interesting perspective will always beat an expensive camera and nothing to say.
A working holiday for filmmakers who think differently.
About the residency
"Every mind has its own internal system for navigating the world. We want someone who understands that — and can help us show it.
Everything is taken care of.
-
Full Board
Your own private room in a country estate in the Scottish Highlands. All meals and drinks are covered for the full month.
-
Mentored Work
You will be mentored on filming and editing for a real platform, producing work that has a genuine audience and genuine purpose.
-
Portfolio Credit
Professional credits on content for a registered company. Work you can show future employers, commissioners, and collaborators
-
Neuro-inclusive
We understand that different minds need different conditions. Tell us what adjustments would help you thrive and we will make them happen
The creative theme
The Hidden Logic.
Every mind has its own internal system for navigating the world. We want you to show us yours. Not describe it — show it.
Think about the unique way your brain works: how you organise your thoughts, the rituals that bring you into flow, the patterns you see where others see noise. Your film should translate your internal world into something a viewer can feel
-
A unique way you organise your thoughts or space.
-
A ritual or routine that brings you flow.
-
How you see patterns or beauty where others see chaos.
-
Translating a complex internal feeling into a visual metaphor.
How to enter
Your submission has two parts. Both matter equally. There are no rules about format — use what reflects you best
Two things. That's all.
1 - Film
A short film that shows us your Hidden Logic. Max 2 minutes. We are looking for story, intention and authenticity - not technical perfection.
Format: MP4 or MOV
Max length: 2 minutes
Gear: anything - phone, DSLR, or cinema camera
File naming: Name_Film_HiddenLogic
The Who & Why
Tell us who you are and why this residency is right for you. No set format. Choose what feels natural.
Option A
A one-page "User Manual for [Your Name]" — your skills, specs, and what you need to thrive.
Option B
A 60-second "Unboxing" video — the tools, objects or snacks you can't create without.
Option C
Five frames: 5 images from your journey with a one-sentence caption each.
Option D
A playlist, mood board, or graphic novel page — if vibes say it better than words.
How we judge
No guesswork.
Complete transparency.
We want you to know exactly what we are looking for before you submit. Here is how every entry is scored.
-
The film clearly identifies one Hidden Logic. The viewer understands the core subject immediately.
-
Audio is clear. Visuals feel intentional — if something is blurry or shaky, it should feel like an artistic choice, not an accident.
-
The film has a clear beginning, middle and end. You take us on a two-minute journey.
-
The film feels personal and unique to you. It doesn't look like a generic advert.
-
All files are named correctly and the bio is included. Following clear instructions is part of the brief.
Accessibility
We are neuro-inclusive.
That is not a footnote.
This residency is open to anyone aged 18–24. You do not need to be neurodivergent to apply but we understand that different minds need different conditions to do their best work.
If you need specific adjustments during the residency - whether that relates to environment, communication, schedule, or anything else - tell us. We will work with you to make them happen.
