Olive or Fig
Tailored support for ADHD, autistic and dyslexic adults - turning potential into exceptional outcomes.
3 Ways Working together Creates Change
-
Turn intention into action
I identify exactly why tasks are stalling and create personalised systems that make starting, prioritising and finishing easier. You gain clear next steps, reliable ways to follow through, and greater control over your time.
Before:
Ellen felt lost, overloaded and unsure where to begin — trying to tackle everything at once, which repeatedly led to shutdown. Now:
A realistic plan turned competing demands into manageable steps. Each one built momentum. Ellen improved her wellbeing and money management, acted on personal goals, and reconnected with the creative interests that mattered to her."A realistic plan for moving forward."
-
Replace overwhelm with stability
I uncover what's driving your overload and help you reduce unnecessary demands, protect your energy, and respond before exhaustion becomes collapse. Life becomes more manageable, predictable and sustainable.
Before:
EM was struggling to sustain progress, doubting whether they could reach the end. Now:
Structure, clear priorities and consistent accountability. As EM saw evidence of their own progress, their confidence returned — and they completed what they'd once feared they couldn't."I truly don't know if I would have made it to the end without your help."
-
Turn hidden ability into visible results
I help you understand your unique neurotype, rebuild trust in your judgement, and work in ways that use your strengths. Your intelligence becomes completed work, better decisions, clearer communication and measurable progress.
Before:
AG knew they were capable of much more, but couldn't find a reliable way to translate that ability into stronger academic performance. Now:
Practical advice and personalised techniques moved AG beyond the plateau — 22 out of 22 on their thesis, and a first-class degree."I received 22/22 on my thesis and will be graduating with a first!"
About me.
I'm Mia Preston, MSc, PGCE — founder of Olive or Fig and The Orchard, and a specialist mentor for neurodivergent adults, students and families.
My three decades span engineering, teaching, fostering, specialist mentoring, training and content creation. Engineering taught me to find the point where a system stops working. Teaching taught me that understanding only matters once it becomes action. Fostering deepened my grasp of attachment, regulation and how environments shape behaviour.
I bring those disciplines together with neuroscience, psychology, practical mentoring, and lived experience of ADHD and dyslexia — so you don't have to become an expert in executive function or nervous-system regulation. I do that thinking, so we can concentrate on making an ordinary Tuesday work.
Experience recognised at a national level
In February 2026, I gave evidence on neurodivergence in employment to the Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee at the Scottish Parliament, representing the Federation of Small Businesses Scotland. The Committee's final Neurodivergence in Scotland report quotes my evidence numerous times.
“ Mentoring designed for how you work, not how the world thinks you should ”
How it works.
How it works.
Olive or Fig isn't about telling you what to do. It's about listening — to your challenges, your dreams and your fortitude. We'll identify your main goals, complete a life audit exploring your strengths, and build strategies unique to your neurobiology.
This approach is for anyone who is neurodivergent, diagnosed or self-identified, at any age or stage of life. Your needs guide us.
I offer personal life mentoring as well as workplace strategy coaching. Every session is tailored to your goals, strategic and long-term.
We always start with a free half-hour session to see if we're a good fit. After that, we use a combination of Socratic questioning, reframing and neuroscience — and throughout, I'm your consistent companion.
1:1 or The Orchard.
Choice is at the heart of the Olive or Fig ethos.
Some days you need someone across from you, working through it in real time, a ready ear, responding to your challenges as they happen. That's 1:1 mentoring.
Other days you just need the right tool, at 11pm, without booking anything. That's The Orchard: a growing library of short, practical videos for neurodivergent people for starting the task you've been avoiding, making sense of a hard conversation, or finally getting a decent night's sleep.
What The Orchard can help with:
Focus & procrastination
Sleep & rest
Communication & relationships
Food & routines
Neuroscience made simple
Self-worth & identity
It's not therapy — it's mentoring in a format that fits around your life. And it's not either/or: many people use both. Your needs guide the process.
